ATTENTION JAGUARS Tickets for the 2014 Homecoming Dance "Casino Royale" at the signature Grand in Davie are now on sale. Ticket prices are $55 through Friday, October 3rd and are available online or at lunch. Ticket packages include dinner, a t-shirt and a ticket to the football game. You must have a permission slip in order to purchase a ticket; cash and online payments only, please. Permission slips and tickets are available during A and B lunches or in room 147 immediately after school.


PSAT

ATTENTION 9TH, 10TH & 11TH GRADERS Every 10th grader will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 15th 2014 (free of charge). 9th and 11th graders are encouraged to take this exam as well. The fee for 9th and 11th graders is $14. You can purchase a PSAT ticket starting Tuesday, September 16th during lunch in the Guidance office (cash only - we do have limited waivers for free and reduced lunch students).

The PSAT is a great practice tool to get ready for college. Math, reading and writing skills will be tested on the PSAT. For 11th graders, this is a great opportunity for practice since you will be taking the SAT this year. Additionally, 11th graders who score exceptionally high can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.

Any student that is taking the PSAT will receive a PSAT Student Guide that will help in test preparation.

NEW PROFESSIONAL STUDY SCHEDULE

ATTENTION JAGUARS & PARENTS Dismissal time for Professional Study Days has changed! Starting Thursday, October 2, 2014, students will be dismissed at 11:40 AM. As a result, the Professional Study Day bell schedule has also changed. Also, a boxed lunch will still be available in the cafeteria, now at 11:40 AM.

ATTENTION JAGUARS & PARENTS On June 9, 2014, the School Board of Broward County approved Resolution 14-88, which would put a $800 Million General Obligation Bond on the November 4th ballot. The proceeds of this bond will be utilized for capital improvements and to purchase technology for teachers and students.

BROWARD COLLEGE


ATTENTION JAGUARS Do you want to earn college credits while attending high school? If the answer is Yes, then pay attention to the following information!!!! If you are interested in doing Broward College Dual Enrollment in the Winter (January) term, you must stop by guidance to meet with Mrs. Howard to verify that you are eligible and to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. Dual Enrollment paperwork for Broward College is due no later than Wednesday, October 1st to Mrs. Howard in Guidance.
You must meet the following criteria:

  • Earned 11 high school credits
  • Have an unweighted GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum required test scores on PERT, ACT, SAT, or 10th grade Reading FCAT

FREE BROWARD COUNTY LIBRARY CARD


ATTENTION PARENTS & JAGUARS When students head back to school in August, the Broward County Public Library wants to make sure that all students have one of the most important school supplies of all – a free public library card. Owning a Broward County Public Library card provides access to extensive print and online resources to support literacy and learning. When students receive their free library cards they will have free, immediate access to books (online and print), magazines, academic databases, internet access, test preparation materials, as well as homework help and additional resources.    Students can apply online or in-person with a parent/ guardian.
